PHIL'S FISHING TIP OF THE MONTH

Did you know that in a recent survey by Conde Nast Traveler, Puerto Vallarta was selected as the 8th most ideal location world wide as a vacation destination, but she was named the 'Friendliest' town to American tourists.  Isn't this  kind of like losing a beauty pageant but being named Miss Congeniality?  Puerto Vallarta was in between Hong Kong and Vancouver.  Go figure?

Phil has been racking his brain all month to come up with a new tip.  His last few were really good and he can't seem to top them.  The best thing that he can tell you right now is that you ought to "Come to Puerto Vallarta to Fish in the Summer".

Hotels are cheaper, flights are cheaper and the fishing is World Class.  Yeah, it is so hot and humid that taxis and buses are driving like suicide bombers but that is not your problem.  Lots of the boats offer summer discounts for multiple days so if you really want to experience Deep-Sea Fishing in it's ultimate form then this is actually a good tip.

Another helpful tip is to the parties that have not yet fished in Vallarta before.  Let's say that you have planned  your vacation and know, more or less what boat that you want to charter.  You did not send a deposit but feel assured that your perfect boat will be available on at least one of your vacation days.  You have Phil's telephone number safely tucked away to book your boat.  But when you visit the beach, a vendor has a photo album of the most spectacular photos of a beautiful boat and lots of Marlin and he is offering a price considerably better than Phil had quoted.   We want to tell you that there are hundreds of boats in Puerto Vallarta but probably only 15 or 20 that are worth the cost of the charter.  Many people with high expectations spend days on slow, run-down boats with crews that speak no English.  Please be consumer aware when you book any kind of charter or tour from a time share OPC or a beach vendor.   These guys mean well but are only interested in a booking rather than the quality of the tour.
